DERMAL FILLERS Q&A:
Are filler injections painful?
Juvéderm products come premixed with lidocaine to gently numb the treatment area with each application. Although injections are not considered painful, Dr. Chandler can add an anesthetic cream or nerve block injection to provide additional comfort.
What are the possible side effects?
Side effects after dermal filler injections are mild and normally resolve over the first 24 to 48 hours. These include slight redness, bruising, tenderness, swelling and pinpoint bleeding. Serious complications are extremely rare, including infections, nodules, asymmetry or injection of a blood vessel. Although these complications are unlikely, it is important to trust only a plastic surgeon to perform dermal filler injections, because knowledge of the intricate facial anatomy is crucial in performing the injections.
